I never venture far from water and yes, there is a 26 acer lake in my back yard. You would be interested in knowing that it has not been frozen enough to skate on in a few years but many times over the last 25 we have been able to glide across that frozen surface, at least on our end where it is quite shallow. The deck was built for the girl's wedding, for dancing, but it is a lovely spot for summer cookouts.
Thanks all. It is beautiful in all seasons but I think I like the afternoon light of winter best, all mysterious. It also hides the fact that there are a lot of dead tree limbs that my neighbors wish I would clean up and my husband parked the non functioning riding lawn mower just to the left of the deck, three years ago. He says he's gonna move it any day now.
Hey, wouldn't it be fun to have a blog party here in the summer? Any takers?
I can barely swim, but I too am attracted to the water. Were I in your shoes, I'd probably fog up the window from having my nose too close to the glass in the winter and read on a chair in the grass when the greenery is showing in the summer. Looks lovely.
Umm, am I seeing water not too far away???

ReplyDeleteAhhh it looks beautiful, and a day without power can occasionally be a good thing. I miss the frozen ponds of upstate New York.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh so pretty! I love the city, but it's times like this I'm so glad I grew up somewhere exactly like that. :-)

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting. I can imagine that you could party in a variety of settings back there.

Roselle I'm going to try and make it happen.
ReplyDeleteOutburst: Well you do skate, something I have not done since I was 17. It is a beautiful back yard and I love the view from my kitchen window.
What a beautiful backyard--It looks very cold in Virginia, but I believe that the ice an snow may have a soothing effect upon the senses. Splendid.
